The results of the SPEER-A – Strengthening and Promoting Earthquake Emergency Response and Rescue Capacity in the Black Sea Basin Area (Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, BSB01197 – SPEER-A Clean and Green Region, 2025–2028) project were disseminated through the presentation of the paper “Vulnerability and Adaptive Capacity of Population and Settlements to Earthquakes in the Black Sea Basin. Case Study: the Vrancea Seismogenic Area (authors: Dan Bălteanu, Bianca Mitrică, Gheorghe Kucsicsa, Mihai Micu, Irena Roznoviețchi, Irena Markovska, Mihaela Sima, Marta Jurchescu, Gabriela Moroșanu-Mitoșeriu, and Laura Lupu, Institute of Geography Romanian Academy, Natural Hazards Research Center, Pătârlagele and Burgas State University Prof. dr. Assen Zlatarov, Bulgaria). The paper was presented in the session “Land Use/Land Cover Changes and Land Degradation in the Anthropocene”, within the Land Use and Land Cover Change thematic area.

The presentation provided an opportunity to disseminate and further valorise the project’s results of the Activity A1.2 – Risk assessment of the Basin Area for Earthquakes, with a focus on assessing the vulnerability and adaptive capacity of populations and settlements to seismic risk in the Black Sea Basin, highlighting the specific characteristics of the Vrancea seismogenic area. Participation also facilitated the exchange of knowledge and experience with international researchers and contributed to increasing the visibility of the project’s results within the international geographical research community.
