Activities

SPEER-A implements a set of interconnected activities designed to strengthen earthquake preparedness, enhance emergency response capacities and promote long-term cooperation among the participating countries of the Black Sea Basin. Combining scientific research, innovative technologies, capacity building and community engagement, the project develops practical solutions and fosters collaboration among public authorities, researchers, rescue teams, volunteers and citizens. Through nine complementary activities, SPEER-A contributes to building safer, more resilient and better prepared communities across the region.
Activity 1.1 – Project Coordination and Meetings
SPEER-A promotes effective cross-border cooperation through regular meetings, coordination mechanisms and joint decision-making processes among the four partner organisations.Activity 1.2 – Risk Assessment Study
The partners jointly assess earthquake risks and vulnerabilities in the Black Sea Basin area in order to improve preparedness and strengthen resilience against disasters.Activity 1.3 – Development of a Virtual Reality Laboratory for the Earthquake Hazard Framework
An innovative Virtual Reality Laboratory is developed to support the visualization and understanding of earthquake hazards and related phenomena, contributing to improved risk perception and decision-making.

Activity 1.4 – Development of an App for Mitigation of an Earthquake’s Results
A mobile application is created to provide emergency preparedness guides, educational material, support for volunteer networks and offline information that can be used during and after earthquakes.

Activity 1.5 – Development of a Unit for Temporary Living in Emergencies Adjustable to the Conditions of all BSB Countries
The project develops an adaptable concept for temporary emergency housing based on the principles of sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics, taking into account the climatic and social characteristics of the Black Sea Basin region.

Activity 1.6 – Joint Trainings for Search and Rescue Teams
Specialized training sessions are organized to strengthen the skills, preparedness and cooperation of search and rescue teams from the participating countries.

Activity 1.7 – Joint Training, Support and Development of Volunteers’ Teams
SPEER-A supports the creation and strengthening of volunteer networks and promotes the active involvement of citizens in disaster preparedness and emergency response.

Activity 1.8 – School Educational Sessions and Students’ Competition
Educational activities and awareness campaigns are implemented in schools to promote a culture of prevention and preparedness among younger generations, complemented by an international students’ competition.

Activity 1.9 – Closure Events and Transnational Scientific Conference for Earthquakes in the Black Sea Basin Area
At the end of the project, partners will organize a transnational scientific conference and participate in macro-regional events to disseminate project results and ensure their long-term impact.
